Biography

The author of almost 50 books for children and adults. Specialises in easy-to-read novels and stories, with a good dollop of humour. Before writing professionally, she taught English in Nigeria, French and outdoor activities in Wales, and has been a radio producer and deputy manager of Gwersyll yr Urdd, Glan-llyn. Adapted her first novel, Amdani! for television. Hardly ever wins prizes but was winner of the Tir na n-Og prize for her teenage novels in 2001 (Llinyn Trôns) and 2003 (Sgôr), and the Gwobr Goffa T Llew Jones Memorial Prize for a novel for 10-12 year-olds with Gwylliaid. Finally made the Welsh Book of the Year short list in 2005 with Hi yw Fy Ffrind. Has written a column for Yr Herald Gymraeg in the Daily Post for over 20 years and a blog about Welsh language children’s books since 2013. Also a Welsh language tutor for adults and her Blodwen Jones trilogy for Welsh learners is her bestseller!  She lives near Dolgellau in Gwynedd, and enjoys cycling and the company of dogs.
